Having had another look at the photographs accompanying the listing, I now see that the condition of the clasp hinge does not match that of the reverse of the badge. There is absolutely no sign of pitting or buffing. So, it looks like the fittings have been added.

The conformity of these pieces to those on an original badge is odd though.

It will be interesting to see if any similar examples surface over the coming months.
