An earlier cavalry carbine marked to the Cape Mounted Rifles. Also no swivels or sling bar.

That's very interesting. I would have looked at the picture of the PE TG and not noticed their rifles but I will from now on.

Thank you for your posts on this thread. Firearms have been largely neglected on this forum, but now with its increased coverage of conflicts in addition to the 2nd ABW there is plenty of scope for you to further enlighten us on the subject. I will look forward to seeing many more posts from you.
