Good Morning Paul.....

Yes this is a quite rare cap badge, and as Frank says the collar badge is smaller..... In fact it is one of the very few cases where the collar badge can be more expensive than the cap.....

One of the most exciting thing is also the named Stetson they are quite rare also....

Paul,

You would not believe what some Canadian collectors are prepared to pay for that little badge and it is indeed tiny! (the collar badge was even smaller!)

Just in case anyone is interested here is a the Strathcona's Badge that some have expressed interest in finding......

Starting price of $700.00 US is not bad...... The last one I saw sold as a separate badge and confirmed Cap and not Collar as they are very similar in size was for just over $1,200.00 Canadian......

The seller is quite well known.....

ebay / item / CANADA Specialized-Ld-S-H-RC-collection-Lot-1-Mazeas-MC-7 / 361189231142

700 USD is still quite a lot of money in my opinion, glad it was not always the case, you know Mike, it used to be very much the school boy pastime, I don't know what the world has come to! :(

Good Morning Frank......

Yes I agree but then again at our school boy age there were fewer collectors and a lot more out there..... In saying that though there have been some items that have always been expensive even to a school boy and this is one of them..... The popularity of and the scarcity the unit has always made it a highly desirable item...... Back in 1966 I purchased a bag containing 7 Town Guard QSA's for the princely sum of 50 Pounds because the man said that no one wants Town Guards...... But that 50 pounds was a lot of money for me......
