Mike, here's an image of the painting hanging in Bakewell Town Hall. Herbert Brooke Taylor, Born 06.10.1855. Served in the ranks with the 9th Derbyshire Rifle Volunteers (Bakewell) as a Private. Lieut 9th Derbyshire Rifle Volunteers 8.4.1874. Lieut-Col. Commandant 10.10.1900, V.D. Retired 1904. Was engaged in a recruiting capacity during the 1914-18 War and was awarded the CBE for his recognition: Died 1923.
