He would appear to have been in the Transvaal or perhaps Dundee/Newcastle to have had his property looted. His application may well state what he did in the war.

Meurig, how easy is it to obtain files from SA Archives remotely? I have tended to use Audrey Portman in the past, but perhaps I can just go direct to the Archive for this one?
