Quote :- Now, I am very intrigued by these bags and as I suspect there will not be time before Minden Day to get them, could I ask what they are called, what they contain and what they were used for?

The 2 front pouches were for ammunition, the shoulder havasack was used for rations , cutlery and personal items I believe. There was also a backpack, water canteen and bayonet frog attached. A blanket roll was also carried. However, you mention that you will be attending the show as an officer? In which case your webbing equipment would have been made from leather and canvas and your boots would probably have been brown leather.. See attached images.

NCO and Officer.

Officers attire 1899.

These are described as "Tactical Pro Boots Side Zip Black Kombat" boots and based on the photograph shown earlier appear to be a good match, therefore would like to know if they will pass as a stop gap measure until I am able to get a pair of proper boots for next year?

Maybe a bit too modern.

Perhaps something like this may suffice? Until you get guidance from the re enactment group.

And there was I thinking that hobnail boots were a purely Roman thing (that caused havoc when the Romans told Cleopatra that they had secured her leadership)

As I have mentioned, the reason why I have a tie in those pictures is because the top button of my jacket doesn't do up and that might be due to the fact that I have a 19 inch neck therefore given what has been said any pointers towards finding a jacket that is at least 20 inches would be helpful

You could try the above, reference a jacket. They are based in Leeds, and I believe they can bespoke uniforms to suit various sizes.
