I have an interest in policing in South Africa, being an ex SAP member and the Anglo Boer War in general. My Grandfather fought on the British side in the York and Lancaster Regiment and I have his medals and a lot of paperwork for him, but I am far more interested in the service the various Police forces made in the war.

As part of my interest in South African Policing pre-1913, I have acquired two Police related ABO Medals.

The first is to a Bittereinder from the ZARP's Constabel Stephanus Christiaan Scholtz who served from 30th October 1899 to June 1902 when he laid down arms. He gave his address on Vorm B upon application in 1921 as SAP Roodepoort. I would like if possible to find out more about this man especially as he served as a policeman post Boer War.

The second is to Jacobus Johannes Albertus Pelser who on his Vorm B states he was an Artillery Man and Policeman of the OVSR from 11/101899 to 13/9/1900 when he was captured I am told at Barberton Hospital again is there any way of finding out more on this man?

Here is hoping.......

Steve

Welcome to the forum Steve......

I am sure that you will find a number of police items herein.....
If you want to be swamped just type police in search and go to medals.....
But they are fantastic threads with lots to read.....

Mike

P.S. I forgot to add I always look for SAC items to Canadians...... See this thread.....

Thanks, Mike I am still wandering around this site and looking into things. I do know of the immense contribution the Canadians made to the SAC with of course Sam Steele playing a huge part in their activities.

I have no idea how to post pics yet as it seems they need a URL which I don't know how to create otherwise I would load my SAC insignia together with other colonial police of the time.

If you click on 'reply,' then on 'attachment,' and then on 'file,' you can add images direct from your computer (perhaps I should say device). Sometimes you might have to reduce the size of the file first.

And welcome to the forum, Steve.
