Great photos Rob,

Here is another photograph by René Bull. To my eye this is a stunning image, clearly taken by an artist.

And another (not by Mr Bull this time) ......
This is not the train from the Chieveley incident. I believe it is the one captured at Kraaipan on 11 October 1899.

Absolutely stunning!

And an image showing British prisoners from the armoured train arriving at Pretoria. These are mostly officers.

I noted with interest the Dublin Fusiliers' helmets in your picture by Rene Bull have a slightly darker (green?) pugaree and dome ventilator, and a paler (white?) stripe on the helmet above the pugaree.
So I think these POWs are probably not Dublins...
Could they be Durban Light Infantry, or men captured elsewhere?
I attach a photo of the memorial to those who fell, which I took when I first visited the site as a lad... in1969.

The past is not dead. In fact, it's not even past.

A French postcard showing the officers.
Note Churchill in the centre, with back turned to the camera, wearing side cap. [Ed: correction: this is NOT Churchill....!]
