Hello to All;
I have a QSA with 5 bars; CC, THts, OFS, R of L'smith and Tvl,
I've searched the 1st Batt name list but can't find an entry for 4267 Pte R Watson.
Will one of the 'Wise men" please confirm this soldier and provide a copy of the medal roll?
I'd appreciate any assistance. with thanks. :) Evyn :)

I had a look in the England and Wales records, and also the Irish records, and could find only one birth of a Rufus Watson between 1860 and 1880, and that was recorded in the Bradford, Yorkshire, registration district, second quarter of 1863.

Death records from 1902 on - no-one of that name in Ireland, but one in England - Rufus Watson, death registered in the North Bierley district (southwest side of Bradford), second quarter of 1935, died aged 72.

Berenice,

His service papers give his birth year 1878.

Thanks, David, I thought 1863 was a bit early. So the Bradford man isn't him, yet I couldn't find one other Rufus Watson.

How about William Rufus Watson, birth registration third quarter of 1878 at Pershore, Worcestershire.
