Thanks for allowing me to join this forum. To my knowledge I have at least one relative who fought in the 2nd Boer War. He was in the Imperial Yeomanry, enlisted in London..

Thanks for the welcome!

No particular speciality, as much general all round knowledge as I can pick up would be perfect!

Welcome to the forum, Ken.

There is probably an attestation paper for your relative. Do you already have that?

No I do not and I would have problems getting it as well as I am not too sure of his name! An uncle (who is long dead now) told me about his brother who was in the Boer War
All I know is that his surname was probably (but not definitely) BALL, and that he joined the Imperial Yeomanry from his home in London Fields, East London. Without in depth ancestral background research (and there are no living relatives to help here) I can go no further than that! Frustratingly.

Ken,

That sounds like a challenge.

Would one option by to research or employ a researcher to build a family tree back a few generations? That should not be too difficult to do and should give you his name which will open up a new avenue for research.
