Greenginger - I hope you are still active on this forum ... or admins...is there a way to get a hold of him?

I have his grandfathers Boer War Medal and happy to arrange it going back to the family.

Thanks
Marc

Hello gentlemen
Yes myself and husband are still alive and kicking as they say., and we are absolutely gob smacked to be reading this. Wow. Funnily enough it is only 2 years ago that I managed to return a WW1 medal that had appeared, with no connection to our family, when we cleared my grandparents house, and I know how good it was to return it to his family. Great grandson was tickled pink and took it to school.
We would of course be delighted to have this medal back in the family and tell the story to his great, great grandsons . Please do tell me if there are any costs involved or you would like to be reimbursed in any way for this. What is the story that you can tell? How did it end up with you ? I wonder if his widow sold it in desperation as we know she struggled . We live in Bolton Lancashire, so could perhaps pick up if you are anywhere near us. Many thanks for this.
Thanks and best wishes.

If you contact the Rifles Berkshire and Wiltshire Regiment Museum in Salisbury, the Archivist can search the records and explain what records they may have and what is known about him and his time in South Africa.
