Hi, and sorry to bother. I know it's a bit late, I don't know if you are going to read this message, but I think that Henry Theirs (Theirs, H.) , the father of my great grandmother, fought in the same battalion as J. Dodd. They were both, in the 2nd Battalion Cheshire Royal Engineers Railway Volunteers, they were sappers, and their names appear on the Crewe Memorial. So they were mates! Haven't you found a photo of the battalion?
