Hi linton,
And welcome to the forum.
Your question concerning the clasps on the QSA medal.
CC is Cape Colony OFS is Orange Free State these are state clasps.
SA01 and SA02 are South Africa 1901 & 1902 these are of course date clasps.
I will let Frank answer your WO questions.
Good luck with your further research.

Regards
Paul :)

Hello Mark,
His attestation for the Militia is available on line, the original is in WO96 at Kew, but, in your original post you said that you had already seen it?

Paul, Frank thank you again

Paul the medal clasps would the be the bars over the ribbon? Ie like modern day General service medal with northern Ireland etc?

Frank, I've only seen the attestation on findmypast, but it gave only personal details at time of attestation, ( On 1 page) none of the information that you supplied about unit service. would I have to go to Kew to get this information ? Off WO 96 or has the information you given me on another subscription website ? apart from findmypast

Also (sorry to keep rabbit ing on) why was the M prefix on service number scarce. Scarce as on medal roll, scarce as militia service rare or just scarce to have a prefix meaning militia :) sorry in advance.

Cheers everyone
Mark

Hello Mark,
All the pages are available on fmp, QSA's named to the Militia are quite scarce, in comparison to their Army counterparts and always nice to see from the point of view of many Anglo Boer War collectors who might wish to buy them.
Regards again Frank

Oops,
just been back on fmp, didn't forward the pages  got it now. Thanks for that Frank, would have missed that.

Any ideas on the extended service until 1903? Just to help out medically maybe
.
Just to put a bit of personal touch on Edmund. I thought he would be found again during WW1, but I think he emigrated to Australia in 1911, and cannot be found with certainly again

Thank you everybody
