I recently discovered a photo of my grandfather and through some internet searching arrived here. His helmet has the letters ILH

I would like to find out where he was from and which unit he was in. His name was William Samson Williams. Can anyone help??

I think the man is wearing a post-Boer War uniform. The ILH (as part of the Transvaal Mounted Rifles) took part in the 1906 Natal Rebellion and in the German South West Africa campaign in 1914/15.
