Hi Bernice if it was me I would have grabbed / snapped them up at a price of less than a pound each even if there were a few that were damaged it would have still been a good buy..... Take a look at first post in this thread for a list..... Mike

Mike, the owner said she'd hold them for me, so I'll try to go back there when my next pay day arrives.

Just had a quick look on ebay and they run between 13.00 and 19.00 pounds each which would including shipping.....

I recently purchased a batch of lantern slides at an auction in Germany which included ten glass Kilburn stereoviews with French captions. Before discovering these, I hadn't been aware that stereoviewers came in two forms – for cards and glass slides.

The slides below are reversed to show the French labels (which do not match the Kilburn captions).

"Feu de Peloton anglais". Kilburn slide no.13770, The "South Lancashires" the Prince of Wales Volunteers on the firing line at Colesberg.
"Parc d'artillerie, Pretoria". Kilburn slide no.13783, The monsters that raised the siege at Kimberley.
"Combattants Boers". Kilburn slide no. 13818, The Boer Guards at Nooitgedacht Prison.
"Corps du garde de Roberts".
"Corps du Voluntaires, Colesberg". Kilburn slide no.14226, The Boers on the firing line at the great battle of Dalmanutha.

One of the Kilburn stereocards for comparison. It shows how poor the French reproductions are in terms or resolution and contrast.
