In the next week the site ill be moved to a new host.

This will involve what I hope will be a short period of complete downtime for the site and you will also see the forum will go off line near the transfer time to ensure there is no data loss.

Testing of the next configuration has been very positive and my hope is that this migration will improve the overall site performance.

I will post updates to this thread as the migration process develops.

Best wishes
David

An update on the migration. This will begin on Thursday afternoon. It is hope the site will be available in its now home by Saturday.

The forum will go off line at the end of Wednesday. The site will be accessible during the migration in its old location.

When the forum re-appears, it will mean the new site is ready for use.

Best wishes
David

The first move last week was looking positive but we ran into problems that we were not able to resolve.

Yesterday we took the decision to move the site to a new and more robust environment. That has just been constructed and we are now testing the environment.

As a result of these moves, the data created in the forum last week has been lost. I am very sorry about that. it is the first time the site had lost any of its data. I should have a email containing the post details that I can forward to you when the mail server comes back on line.

We have rewound to the situation as at 10 July at 6am.

Sturgy,

You will see we have reverted to the old test editing tools.

Once you are logged in, you can click on 'My profile'. In setting, you can change the toolbar to a different option to be used whenever you post.

Thank you for the update, David,

As I mentioned in one of the lost posts, I much prefer the old editing tools. It's good to see them reinstated.

David,

All is still performing well as regards posting and speed of thumbing through nominal rolls for the unit information pages.

I posted the lengthy biography of 25404 Trooper Mark Spraggon of Robert's Horse on the "Medals to Robert's Horse" (page 10 of the thread) thread during the period of site migration and it appears to
have disappeared into thin air, still comes up with a Google search but when following the lead it doesn't show up on the thread which ends at page 9.

My question please is whether it is still retrievable or should I resubmit my text? I really don't mind as his story is well worth the telling as he was ab bit of a character probably deserving of his own thread on reflection!

Please advise.

Cheers Steve
