David,
The thought of the Sardines makes me chuckle, but it must have been miserable below decks once they reached warmer climes!
And thank you for the update on the Pomeranian. It was conjuring up a band of germanic troopers.....or, as you say, a small pooch!
Another mystery solved.
Cheers Steve

I must admit to being a postal history-phile. Since I discovered that collecting postal items could enhance my medal collection I have set alerts with various auction sites for items that might be of interest. ( I would say that the philatelists have really fine tuned their search engines across multiple auction houses & dealers) Unfortunatly nothing of real interest in 3 years but I do enjoy recieving the catalogues. It seems that if you collect Boer POWs there seems to be quite a bit of material available.
My own brief forray www.angloboerwar.com/forum/19-ephemera/8...he-boer-war?start=24
Looking for Salutries, Salootries and Veterinary Duffadars.
I collect primarily QSAs to Indian Recipients.
