Since joining the Forum in 2012, Berenice's posts, easily identified by a striking avatar, have stood out for their excellent photography, transcriptions that have helped so many people to trace family members, the recording of monuments and memorials from across the country and also for showing us the effects of the Boer War on the lives of participants from many newspaper articles that have been so carefully transcribed.
Berenice's contribution to the Forum has been outstanding, a fact recognised by the very many thank yous she has received.
The 2,000th post is an excellent time to reflect on Berenice's work over all these years, appreciate the immense contribution she has made and also, very importantly, to say thank you.
I had noticed that Berenice's number of posts was approaching 2K - but missed actually noting the two thousandth post. I always enjoy Berenice's contributions. They speak clearly from the past and add dimensions that are absent in official accounts. I can only echo David's comments.
Always best regards to Berenice!
Thank you, lady and gentlemen. As I've said before, I really enjoy my jaunts around the country, and in the month leading up to lockdown did my best to photograph as many memorials as I could, and visited libraries to read the contemporary press reports, to give myself a stock to use over the coming weeks. On to 3000!
