I was interested to read in Henk Loots message five years ago that my great uncle, Trooper John Aldwinckle, had to have his arm amputated from his wounds received at Mahlabatini before he died in May 1901. Do you have any more details about him? I would like to know more about him or where I can read more about him if you can recommend any sources. Thank you.

Dear Elmarie,
Thank you so much for attaching these two photographs. I know so little about my great uncle. so to know that he is buried in Mahlabatini and his name is on the memorial there is good to know. Much appreciated.
