Not sure if this is the right man?
I found a C R Holmes who served in the 34th company 11th Battalion Imperial Yeomanry
6283 Cuthbert Ralph Holmes died of wounds 22nd July 1900 Kroonstad.
Resided at Bryn Coed Crescent Road Chingford Essex. Information taken from probate documents. Find a Grave record 25th July 1900. Medal roll records the 23rd July 1900.
Remarks in medal roll column does mention the Orange River Colony Police angle, so this could be the man? (194 against the remark, probably his service number ORCP)
