A memorial postcard
War memorial. c19O2. By Caffin of Regent Street. Stone. Soldier leaning on rifle raised on high chamfered plinth, itself on a stepped base. On the plinth, the dates of the South African Wars (1899-1902), the war dead, and a bust of Queen Victoria in low relief. The memorial is surrounded by a cast-iron railing

Paul

"From a billow of the rolling veldt we looked back, and black columns were coming up behind us."

Berenice,

These are wonderful pictures and, with the transcriptions, a fabulous piece of research.

Many thanks

On it! Since 1988 I have been recording ABW memorials - I have 26,637 names (19,513 unique) from 1,249 memorials. All the names are on my website, but I've yet to build a screen to search by memorial or show all names on a memorial; one day soon. :)

Meurig,

That sounds a great project. Once the search facility is available, how much would it cost a member to view a single entry from your site?
