Ok, again many thanks, I thought that might have been the case.
Regards Again Frank

Yes, it was. A lot of the Continental firms had a tie-in with each other prior to WW1.

Good morning Ian,
I noticed that I do have an example, well, half an example! :) in the Natal section of my badge collection, life is indeed a wonderful thing, full of surprises!
Kind regards Frank

What a great example! I do recall seeing a fired 7mm case treated like that - but not as well done. Glad I could help a little bit.

Hello Ian,
I found your original post on Kort Nek's most interesting, anyway, this is the only example, be it half of one, that I have ever seen and indeed handled, I have had it for many years now and I know of about another half a dozen of these Bethune's Mounted Infantry "badges" in collections, so they are by no means unique, though, I don't know if these others are Kort Nek's or not, those in my collection, other than this one, which include both particular examples shown in Colin Owens book, were all made from 57mm standard Mauser cases.
Anyway, I enjoyed reading your original post
Kind regards Frank

Glad you liked the original post. As I see it, this excellent site is all about sharing info with others of like general interest. Of course, we all like to show off our favourites every now and again - none more than I - and maybe learn something extra about them. However, the site is somehow more than the sum total of it's members.
Kind regards
IL.
