I’m seeking more reference material.

I wonder if anyone owns a copy of “The featherbed soldiers: The New South Wales Lancers in the Boer War 1899-1902” and wouldn’t mind photographing the pages concerning the Colesberg Operations?

Thank you

Ian

Does anyone own a copy of THE FIFTH (ROYAL IRISH) LANCERS IN SOUTH AFRICA 1899-1902?

I know that a portion of the Regiment, perhaps only about seventy-five officers and men were operating with Major General John French in the Colesberg area in November 1899. I would like to know if this small group are mentioned in this book.

Thank you

Ian,

I have had a quick look at the chapter headings and it seems Willcox only deals with the Natal Operations (Elandslaagte, Siege of Ladysmith, etc.) and the adavance north through the Transvaal. Nothing on the Colesberg Operations.

Ian,

Captain I believe.

Here is a signed photograph of him taken during the campaign when a lieutenant-colonel.
