Rob, as per your pictures could the indicated man be MacBride? Also, I was always wondering what actually happened to Napoleon. I think Neville's picture finally provides the answer...

Complementing the above series of pictures, herewith the Americans, photographed on the same day (by van Hoepen as Neville correctly surmised). There are, beside Blake, quite a number of men who appear also in the photograph of the Irish Brigade, underlining the fact that many of the Americans fighting for the Boers were Irish Americans.

This is a photo of the bitterenders who were in the Irish Brigade but stayed on during the guerilla phase of the war.
Joe Wade is on the bottom right and he earnt a reputation as a member of the wrecking corps.
