Adrian,

Thank you for the names. I have searched for about 10 of them through Ancestry and found no direct matches that would suggest they were contained on any other rolls.

Perhaps, as Meurig suggests, they were deemed not to be entitled to medals at the unit level being too far away from the fighting and not raised to support the Imperial forces?

Very interesting though.

Best wishes
David

Many thanks Adrian - as the form is filled in triplicate looks you found 1/3 of the forms. I wonder if a copy sent to London is languishing in the Archives somewhere.

I checked the NA catalogue and only two references to Bredasdorp, one is a seaman's records (born Bredasdorp) the other claims to the Military Compensation Board after the ABW - evidence of Boer marauding?

Would be worth asking David and Taffy Shearing as they have done loads of work on the Cape in the ABW.

Hello Meurig,

I would love to know the real answer to this. Where these men eligible for the QSA or not or where they perhaps entered onto another roll?

David has had a look for a few of them and they have not been found.

Seems a shame if they were not entitled.

Hello Adrian

I've emailed Natie at the Castle Musuem CT - he has been working on the TG rolls for many years now.

Morning Adrian

Natie has not heard of this TG.

If this roll was ever sent to London then there must be correspondence somewhere about it.
