Hello Paul,

I completely understand how you feel. As you know we’ve experienced similar difficulties with our first books.

I’m working on a detailed account and analysis of The Colesberg Operations, which involves the British defence of the Cape Colony from Boer invasion. It involves numerous regiments and numerous Boer Commandos so like you I’m hopeful that my second project will appeal to mainstream publishers.

Your book sold out because contrary to any mainstream publisher’s belief the book is clearly not too niche and you have found your audience, so congratulations. Keep writing. It is clearly something you like doing and something you’re clearly good at.

That sounds like a huge piece of work Ian, I can imagine how much research it will take to put that together. Judging from the reaction to your debut I know you will produce an excellent and authoritative narrative. Hopefully a book deal will follow.

Thanks for your kind words, they're much appreciated.
