Herewith a partial take from the contemporary Jeppe map as used by Col. Belfield. The farm Oranjepan in those days had the number 81 and not 89. The two ridges are clearly visible.

Thanks EFV; that is just the map I was looking for.

The great thing about the map is that "Grootpan" is still their today and is a common link between both the modern and contemporary maps.

Hi EFV,

I thought you may find this interesting; comparing your contemporary map with a satellite image one can make out the original fence lines of the farms.

I have marked out the fence lines in red and even shaded the river (low lying country) in blue to show the alignment between the two; quite remarkable.
