I am looking for the records of Henry Colin Knight b 1880 St Pancras, London who served in the Boer Way and his regimental number was 6188 and he was in the Oxfordshire Light Infantry. I am a complete novice in this area and would appreciate some guidance as to how I can access his records. Many thanks

Welcome to the forum,

Do you have membership of Find My Past? - if so do a Military search entering his name and regimental number in the relevant boxes and all will be revealed. If not I can post the four pages on here but will need to electronically "shrink" them first and some resolution will be lost. Third option send me a private message with your email address and I can email them to you.

On Ancestry you should be able to find him on the Medal Rolls for the OLI - again do a military search but only enters his initials and surname and his regimental number in the Keyword box - just checked and he comes out top of the list twice - the first medal roll shows he was awarded the Queen's South Africa Medal with 3 clasps - Cape Colony, Orange Free State & Transvaal, the second Medal Roll shows he was also awarded the South Africa 1901 clasp.

Thank you so much for your prompt reply. I do not have access to find my past unfortunately. I will private message you.

Many thanks
