The New South Wales Lancers - Squadron Parade. This is one of the smartest of Colonial Corts, and after a visit to Aldershot to undergo a course of training proceeded to the Cape. Very shortly after landing in South Africa they were hotly engaged with the enemy under General French. The regiment was raised in 1887 by Lord Carrington when Governor of New South Wales, the total strength being about 450 men. Like most of the Australian troops, they are good riders, of splendid physique, and are altogether a fine body of men.

Thank you, Neville. That is a fascinating picture.

The Japanese officer wore no epaulettes in the first image but now has some insignia in your picture.
