Your man must have been an officer in the 1st Devonshire Regiment. I base this assertion on the way he refers to "his men". Pte. F. Rogers (the only Rogers at Elandslaagte) was in his company - Rogers served with the 1st Devons - I don't have the casualty rolls but someone should be along to tell you exactly who this man is.

Regards

Rory

Three officers of the Devons were listed as "severely wounded" at Elandslaagte.

Lieutenant Gunning HR
Lieutenant Hayley SF
Lieutenant Green HF

Don't where any of them were wounded.

Thank you. The only name that I have heard in connection with the family is Green but I do not know of any links to the Devons.

Gordon21,

George Fredrick Green was born 19 August 1875 in Jersey and was wounded in the forearm at Elandslaagte.

This is his entry from the 1905 Army List:

Dr David Biggins
