A relative of mine , a Robert Hodge, served in South Africa from about 1902. I`m struggling to make out some of the writing on an army service document and any help would be appreciated. In particular I am trying to make out the names under the column marked Station, or Troop Ship. I can make out Inverness, Gibraltar, SS Montrose and South Africa but nothing else. Please see attached document.

Many thanks

David Hodge

David,

In case you are having difficulty with the attachment, it needs to be less than 2000 pixels square and less than 500MB.

You are welcome to email it to me and I can upload it. david.biggins at angloboerwar.com.

Best wishes
David

Hi David
Just a quick question? Which regiment did Robert serve in?
Was it a Highland Regiment?

best regards

Dave F

Third from bottom is "Fort George".

If you match these dates with dates of stations served in on p4 (back page) of the service papers then you know which country he was in. I am guessing it is Fort George in India which would explain the final two as being hard to recognise.
