Either I'm barking mad or there was, at one time, lists of the ILI chaps who were either wounded or died atop Spioenkop on this forum.

Please could someone put me out of my misery and point me in the right direction.

Regards

Rory

Hello Rory

I don't recall such a list, but you may find this useful: theangloboerwars.blogspot.co.uk/2015/10/...fantry-at-spion.html

Rory,

I'm having trouble locating the information so instead, here's the information from The Times.

1. 30 Jan 00

2. 1 Feb 00

3. There is a further listing of casualties on 2 Feb 00 but there are no ILI men listed.

Thank you Meurig and David

I now have 4 or 5 medals to the ILI and nary a casualty or pow...

I'll have to look harder

Surely only a matter of time, Rory?

Did you find the company list for the DLI?

I have seven and just one casualty, and it is not clear how he came by his death:

Cpl 517 JW Elliott - died Pietermaritzburg May 1st (or 7th) following a thigh amputation, was this due to a battle wound, badly broken leg or some other reason? Unfortunately I haven't found out which.

But, of all the units on Spion Kop the ILI had the highest percentage on the hill, so out of all the medals you have at least one was definitely there.
