Hi everyone,

I would like to request the collective support of the good folks on this forum.

The family of Cyprus Hinks, 223, of the Imperial Light Infantry are delighted to secure the return of his medal after what has been a considerable separation.

The family has been able to piece together some information on his past; such as date of birth (1878) and untimely passing in 1923 off the coast of Cape Town.

What they would really appreciate is any potential photographs; or any other information such as attestation papers.

Does anyone know if there were any photographs taken of the NCO's of the ILI?

Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Shaun

He also earned the right to the KSA with both date clasps by serving in Kitchener's Fighting Scouts after his service with the ILI. This service did not add a clasp to his QSA because he spent all his time with them in the Transvaal.

This transcription record found on FMyP appears to give the date he joined Kitchener's Flying Scouts plus other info.

Thanks Dave & Smethwick.

The good news is that we can now include any photos to NCO's of the KFS in the last year of the war.

Thanks again.
