Good afternoon. i am wondering if i can have some advice please. i have recently purchased a group of medals to
Frederick Kilman 3514
He enlisted in the 2nd Norfolks on 6th Jan 1893. I believe he served in India from 9/11/94 to 10/2/02 he then went to South Africa from11/02/02 to 21/09/02 a total of 223 days. The entry on the medal card shows he is entitled to the Transvaal bar and the 1902 bar. These two bars are with the medal. So to my concern they are not attached to the medal, this is the first QSA group i have bought so any advice would be highly welcome.

Welcome to the Forum. Regarding your QSA with unattached clasps, it sounds like the recipient was awarded the medal first and the clasps came separately. The medal could be returned for attachment of the clasps or else that could be done by a local jeweler. On occasion I have even seen clasps attached with string or wire!

IL.
