QSA (2) Tugela Heights, Relief of Ladysmith (517 Corpl: J. W. Elliott, Impl: Lt. Infy.), officially re-impressed naming.

Joseph William Elliott enlisted on 11 November 1899. He died of wounds at Grey's Hospital, Pietermaritzburg on 1 May 1900. Having been delivered to that place, medics amputated his leg but he died after the operation to save his life.

QSA (2) Tugela Heights, Relief of Ladysmith (794 Pte. J. A. Bartlett. Impl: Lt. Infy.)

James Arthur Bartlett enlisted at Durban on 20 November 1899. The Times (2 February 1900) records him as being wounded on Spion Kop on 24 January 1900. The Natal Field Force casualty roll incorrectly records him "missing-released 6-6-00".

QSA (4) Tugela Heights, Relief of Ladysmith, Transvaal, Laing's Nek (1402 Pte. E. Pleass, Impl: Lt. Infy.), unofficial rivets between first and second clasps, worn overall

Edward Pleass was born on 23 March 1868 at Gosport, Hampshire and joined the Royal Artillery on 10 May 1890, with whom he served until 28 July 1892. He thence joined the British South Africa Police and served in Rhodesia in 1896 (Medal).

During the Boer War he served with Menne's Scouts, the Imperial Light Infantry and Steinaecker's Horse (November 1901-February 1903). Throughout his career he is noted as having falsely enlisted and being of poor character.
