Thanks Mark, hope you don't mind if I ask more questions about the document:

Do you know when it was compiled (soon after the battle or later?)
Do you have the original roll?
If you have a copy do you know where the original is?

Thanks & regards
Meurig

Meurig,

I have a photo copy of the original roll. It was given to me over 40 years ago from an old collector who knew of my interest in the South Lancashire Regiment and had it copied from the original.. It would appear to be a document that was compiled at the time. Pearson's QSA was in my collection.

Kind regards

Mark

Thanks Mark, much appreciated.

Amazed how medals lose research as they circulate from dealer to collector.

Dear Mark,
I don't collect medals but spend far more time than is healthy on the Natal battlefields.
I think it would be wonderful if you could post your copy [probably the only copy extant] of the Roll of C and D companies, South Lancashire Regt., on the Forum.

Rob,

I envy your ability to spend time on the battlefields. I visited South Africa in 1976 and went to Ladysmith, Spion Kop etc. It was this that kick started my interest in the Boer War.

You will note that I have started to add individual details and will do so again when I have sufficient time to complete the project.

I am more than happy to look up individual names for people.

Best

Mark
