Edward Rolwes was born in 1886 in Dublin, Ireland and died in 1926 at Drogheda, Ireland.
He served with the 4th Irish Dragoon Guards from 18.1.1900 to 19.11.1901 in South Africa and was awarded the Queens South Africa Medal.
(Clasps: Cape Colony and South Africa 1902).
He also served with the Imperial Yeomanry from 4.1.1902 to 28.10.1902 in South Africa.
My question is did he get awarded the Kings South Afroca Medal as well.
Can anyone help please.

Welcome Trooper R,

Edward Rowles certainly had a full military career.

His only service in the Boer War was, I believe, with the IY so his QSA (2) is his only entitlement. These two clasps are listed on WO100/129p239.

The report of his funeral notes that he was 'discharged with many honours, including five medals'

Hi Trooper R
Edwards medal roll suggests he was awarded a Cape Colony and 1902 clasp only.
Remarks column reads no previous service. His QSA was awarded whilst serving in the 176th Squadron of the 29th Battalion Imperial Yeomanry ( Irish Horse)

His comprehensive service record.
You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.
Best regards,
Dave

Thanks Guys for all your help.
I am determined to find out what the fifth medal was that he was awarded.
It must be a Coronation Medal or similar.
It's so frustrating at times trying to get all the pieces to fit.

Trooper R,

I wonder if that fifth medal is his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal?

Can't find his name on anything, I am open to suggestions assuming his obituary was correct in stating that he had 5 medals.
Could it be the 1911 Coronation Medal of the 1902 Coronation Medal. I just don't know.
