Benjamin Waymark a nineteen year old labourer from Eastbourne, joined the Army, the Royal Sussex Regiment on the 1st of April 1889, after considerable service with the regiments 2nd Battalion, including Foreign Service, he transferred to the Army Reserve on the 5th of February 1897, recalled to the Colours on the 2nd of January 1900 he served with their 1st Battalion in South Africa from the 10th of February 1900 until the 9th of April 1902, transferred to their Depot on the 10th of April and was discharged on the following day.
He gave his next of kin, as his brother James at number 1 Bunton Place, Commercial Road, Eastbourne.
WO100/187 and WO100/332 confirm both medals (the former shows his initial as "J" rather than B, although the number, 3173, is the same on both) with clasps, Cape Colony, Diamond Hill, Johannesburg and Wittebergen on the Queens medal.
Moreover, he appears to have been the only man with that particular surname in the battalion serving in South Africa during the war.

Yes indeed, there is absolutely nothing to suggest he did not receive them.

Just to very quickly return to the original question, I had forgotten to add that I did take a very brief glance at RG11, Benjamin's Father was a Brick Maker and certainly would, if he were alive during the Anglo Boer War, have actually been rather too old to have fought in it.
