The conference was great as were the battlefield visits - Talana, Elandslaagte and on the Sunday before a trip to Thornley Farm - the Boer HQ & hospital on the north side of Talana, Adelaide Farm and to the north of Talana some intriguing stone walls that appear to be "unknown" forts/signalling stations as well as cattle kraals in their time.

Conference papers will be published by the museum when they get them all in.

Great to meet the SA collectors Rory & David (thanks for dinner) and dealer Mike Rowan, I also stopped in to see Brett on the way back - thanks for the lunch.

A brilliant trip all round.

Re: Oscar. In her summing-up, the Judge naively made a point of denying that, in South Africa, the law did not favour the rich and well-connected over the rest of humanity, so she shouldn't be surprised that her judgements are being challenged.
