Pencil note says 'Destroyed'

Was a 'Foot Corps'. Not entitled to King's South Africa Medal or clasps to Q Medal.

Only one Queen's SA Medal claimed as all the other members served in other Corps.

Hello David

'Foot Corps' - should be 'Loot Corps', see this post on the BMF about Loxton's Horse britishmedalforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=59322&hilit=loxton .

What was 'Destroyed' though?

Meurig,

I looked at the work on the text and pondered what it said. Loot Corps made little sense and even less than Foot Corps so I sent with the latter. So, thank you for the clarification.

That's the first time I have come across the annotation of 'Destroyed' and can't think why a document of this type might be destroyed.

best wishes
David

Hello David

They appear to be part of Kitchener's scorched earth policy and unlike other military units their express purpose was to wage "economic war" to put it politely. I take this to be the reason there is not complete roll in the medal rolls or any attestation papers or nominal roll - in the usual places. Perhaps this explains 'destroyed'?
