A reward of R 4,000 is offered for information leading to the recovery of medals stolen in September, 2013 while being remounted at Alec Kaplan & Son, Johannesburg.

1) QSA awarded to Cpl. W. Thorpe, 6th Dragoon Guards with the following bars:
Relief of Kimberly
Paardeberg
Driefontein
Johannesburg
Diamond Hill
2) KSA awarded to Cpl. W. Thorpe with 1901 and 1902 bars.

3) South African Police Good Service Medal awarded to Constable P.C. Kunz.

What a cavalryman's sad tale indeed - sent for 'remount', and (not) returned 'missing in action'.

Must commiserate - can't depend on anything these days.

Good luck with your quest - maybe not to hold your breath on this one.
