I tried that but it was more trouble than it is worth. I wanted a backing cloth and was difficult to achieve a neat appearance. Just thinking - if your medals wore their "No.1s" on display and "No. 2s" when back in the draw, with your technique, there would only need to change into a ready prepared ribbon when you wanted to display them. Just keep one set of display ribbons and change the medal. Save a lot of hassle.
Looking for Salutries, Salootries and Veterinary Duffadars.
I collect primarily QSAs to Indian Recipients.

Thanks everybody for all the suggestions. I had no idea there were so many ways of tackling this problem!

I currently have all of my medals in special medal tray cabinets but it would be nice to display a few of them.

Regards
Ian

Good Afternoon Ian.....

Here's the step by step instructions on how I do my mountings.....

Mike

PART ONE:

Materials Required

1) Medal (of course)
2) Ribbon
3) Art Board (Many frame shops will sell you scraps very very cheap and in some cases will give you for free)
4) 2 sided carpet tape or any other sticky tape.
5) Velcro tape that is sticky on one side, (you will need the hooked side).
6) Pair of scissors.

MEDAL AS REC'D IN MAIL TODAY

PART TWO:

RIBBON, ART BOARD, 2 SIDED TAPE, AND MEDAL AFTER CLEANING.....

I use this polish because it does not use Grit as a cleaner and does damage / scratch the medal. It also leaves a coating on the metal so you do not have to clean again that is good for 10 to 12 years. Also known as Flitz Polish.
