Dear All,

I hope someone here might be able to help me. I have a QSA to 3122 Pte J. Kearns, Royal Dublin Fusiliers. Kearns died of pneumonia in Pietermaritzburg on 13 September, 1901. I'd really like to find out where he is buried and get a photo of his grave. I tried researching Boer War graves online but drew a blank. Any help would be most appreciated.

Best wishes,

Des

Dear Des,

Private Kearns is buried in the Fort Napier Cemetery, Pietermaritzburg. Perhaps one of the Natalians on the site can help you with further details.

Best wishes,

Justin

Hi Justin,

That's fantastic, thank you so much! May I ask how you were able to discover that?

Best wishes,

Des

Sure. A book by Steve Watt titled 'In Memoriam - Roll of Honour Imperial Forces - Anglo-Boer War 1899-1902' published by the University of Natal Press (2000).

Best,

Justin

Thanks Justin, must pick up a copy of that. I just hope another member can take a pic of the grave.

A forum member living in Pietermaritzburg has very kindly agreed to try and take a photo of the grave. If I get the photo I will post it on this thread along with a photo of the medal.

Many thanks,

Des
