The Maritzani MR were attached to the Bechanaland Rifles for pay purposes from 1st September 1901 to 31st March 1902.

Lt H E Kent was the Officer Commanding and drew full pay during that period.

The Maritzani MR operated with the Bechanaland Rifles in General lord Methuen's Column in Traansvaal and Cape Colony, receiving a War Gratuity of £36-10-0.
