PRESENTATION AT SOUTH SHIELDS.
At a gathering of the South Shields branch of the National Amalgamated Union of Labour Mr J. SIDEY was presented with a handsome gold medal suitably inscribed. Mr SIDEY, recently returned from the front, having been in South Africa since the war began. He gave an interesting account of his experiences.

NATIONAL AMALGAMATED UNION OF LABOUR.
In connection with 173 branch of the above, a smoking concert and presentation to Private T. DOYLE on his return from South Africa was held on Wednesday at the Mechanics’ Arms, Waterloo Vale. Mr O. Wade, official delegate, made the presentation, which took the form of a handsome gold medal, and wished the recipient long life to wear it. Mr DOYLE suitably replied. A capital programme of music was provided by a number of local gentlemen, including “The Singing Helper”, by Mr Robert Kidd. Mr James Wilson, member of the Executive Committee presided.
