HOME FROM THE WAR.
On Saturday evening, the 26th inst., one of the most enthusiastic meetings held at Shelford for years took place in the Settlers' Arias Hotel. The occasion was the celebration of the return from South Africa of Trooper B.C. MOSS, 2nd Scottish Horse, who has been on active service for the past six months. After justice had been done to an excellent supper, the chairman, Mr M. Farrar, as the oldest resident of the district, presented the returned soldier, on behalf of numerous friends, with a handsome gold medal suitably inscribed as a memento of the occasion. An interesting feature of the meeting was a collection of British and Boer rifles, pom-pom shells, and also photographs and Dutch books obtained from De Villier's waggons which were captured by the squadron to which Trooper MOSS belonged. After songs, recitations, and toasts had been tendered and acknowledged, the meeting closed with "God Save the King" and cheers for the returned soldier.

On Saturday evening last Trooper B.C. MOSS, of the 2nd Scottish Horse, was welcomed at a social and presented with a gold medal. An interesting feature of the gathering was a collection of British and Boer rifles, pom-pom shells and photographs and Dutch books, obtained from De Villiers' waggons, which were captured by the squadron to which Trooper MOSS belonged.
