HONOURING A WALKERBURN VOLUNTEER.
At a public meeting held in the Volunteer Hall, Innerleithen, last night, Private George GRAY, Walkerburn, Royal Scots Service Company, was presented with a gold watch, chain, and badge, and purse of sovereigns, on his return from active service in South Africa.

HONOURING A VOLUNTEER FROM THE FRONT.
Private George GRAY, L Company, 6th V.B.R.S., who returned from the front three weeks ago, was presented with a silver watch, a gold albert, and a purse of sovereigns on Thursday night. The presentation was made in the Drill Hall, which was crowded. Provost Mathieson took the chair, and was accompanied to the platform by the Magistrates and Councillors, the Rev. James Boyd, chaplain to the company, Drs Cameron and Wishart, and others. The Rev. James Boyd opened the meeting with prayer, after which the Provost made the presentation. Private GRAY returned thanks in a few words. Lieutenant J.K. Ballantyne, in name of the Volunteers, extended a cordial welcome to Private GRAY. The proceedings were very hearty throughout.
