EAST MAITLAND SOLDIERS’ RECEPTION COMMITTEE.

The committee which carried out the arrangements for the reception of Private SMITH at East Maitland, met on Monday night. It was stated there was a balance in hand, and it was decided to purchase Private SMITH a massive gold chain and inscribed trinket. To this end, a subscription was taken in the room, and other amounts have been promised. Messrs G. Clift and M. Barry were appointed to select the chain and trinket. The latter will be in the form of a shield. The presentation will be made shortly.
