A company numbering about seventy sat down to a cold spread at the White Hart Hotel, Abersychan, on Saturday on the occasion of presentations of suitably-inscribed gold medals to local heroes in recognition of services rendered for their country in South Africa. The recipients were George JONES, Reservist in the Shropshire Engineers; and James AMOS, George JAYNE, and Thomas PALMER, members of the Breconshire Militia. Mr. W. Barratt presided, and the medals were presented by Mr. Smith, secretary to the fund.
