Eden | Schomberg Henley Eden | | Lieutenant | Son of the late Henley Eden and grandson of the late Primus of Scotland, was born in Perth on 18th March 1873. He was educated at St Mark's School, Windsor, and was appointed 2nd Lieutenant, 1st Battalion the Black Watch, from 3rd Royal Scots Militia, 24th March 1897; promoted Lieutenant, 12th December 1899; Captain, 13 June 1903; Major, 17th February 1915; Lieutenant Colonel commanding 1st Battalion, 15th September 1920. He served in the South African War and received the Queen's Medal. He was posted to RMC, Sandhurst, as a Company Officer, and later as Commanding a Company from 4th September 1912 to 15th March 1915. In the Great War he was Staff Captain and Brigade Major from 21st March 1915 to 3rd October 1915; DAA and QMG 19th Division from 4th October 1915 to 7th December 1916; AA and QMG 55th Division from 8th December 1916 to 8th May 1919. He was awarded CMG, DSO, was made a Brevet Lieutenant Colonel 1st January 1918, and also received Belgian Order of the Crown, 5th Class, and Legion of Honour, 5th Class. He is in possession of 1915 Star, British and Victory Medals, and was Mentioned in Despatches six times. He was employed as AA and QMG Rhine Armies from 9th May 1919 to 23rd June 1920.
